Tradition

So, in the fine tradition of blogging “about sandwiches”:http://textism.com/article/798/monty-you-terrible-word after long “blogging absences”:http://kennsarah.net/2006/07/30/one-thing-rethinking-on-the-radar/#comment-1875, I’m pleased to report that I finally had the long-coveted “PB&J sandwich”:http://www.panera.com/familynutritionalprofile.aspx?familyid=228 at Panera. I’ve been debating ordering this from the kids menu since they started offering several weeks ago. First, some highlights:

* Yes, I did feel a little stupid ordering it
* But, only after the guy behind the counter asked if I wanted apple juice or chocolate milk
* I got a fountain drink instead
* The sandwich had grape jelly on it
* I would have preferred strawberry
* The bread was awesome
* It came with chips
* I wasn’t offered (nor did I ask for) the squeezable yogurt

All in all, it was _really_ good. And, given that my entire Panera lunch cost me a whopping $3.28 (!), I’d totally do it again.

Totally unrelated: I know I haven’t been _blogging_ per se, but I have been digging. Check the links over at the left. If you need the feed, “here it is”:http://digg.com/rss/kwalker411/index2.xml.

    You paid $3.28 for a PB&J? I’m not up on my jersey food prices, haven’t bought the essentials for a PB&J in jersey for a while … but down here in WV you could buy all the stuff to make a PB&J for yourself (for a good week) for less than that (about $2.70). Prolly cost you $6 or $7 if you went with skippy peanut butter and welshes jelly though. But still, that’s only 2 trips to panera compaired to however many sandwhiches you can make from a loaf of bread.

    I’m not trying to down play your trip to panera in anyway, such a trip for me is rare and generally awesome (maybe once every year or 2) … but, i can’t believe you actually went to panera to get a PB&J.

    I know, I know. Totally ridiculous and frivolous, and I\’ll probably start making sandwiches at home now that I\’ve got this sudden PB&J craze.

    But, I was just so happy to leave Panera after having spent much less than the usual $8+ for a sandwich.

    My 5 year old daughter would have squeezable yogurt over the spoonable type anyday. In fact I am not aloud to even call it yogurt. I am told “It’s Gogurt Dad”! (Add rolly eyes for effect).

    Dude….I’ve been eating “fluff-r-nutters” like they’ve been going out of style of late. I suggest making them on some Calendria’s Italian bread, skip the bread that’ll be around 100 million years and not go state (read: Wonderbread).

    Mmmm…mmmm…..good!

    Chris – the things we do when we move out…

    I lived on Ramen noodles and Grand Union brand soda when I moved out. I could eat dinner for 40 cents (1 pack of noodles and 1 can of soda).

    Thank goodness those days are over. My first month on my own I finished my sodium intake for the last century….
