ITs a preference pain that has an option to open a hidden or minimized application when it is selected (advanced->Switching sends reopen event). Light Switch X also re-orders the application switcher so that the last app you used is pushed to the second spot in the list, just like on Windows. Both synergy and light switch X are shareware.
